"Agricultural Trauma" Class Being Offered

                If you are, the Marshall-Putnam Farm Bureau is offering a class on

                                                 “Agricultural Trauma”

                                     4 hours of Continuing Education Hours

                                              Saturday, August 28th, 2010

                                                  8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

                       

                                        Henry Fire District Building in Henry

 

This program will focus on agricultural trauma and prolonged extrication during tractor rollovers, combine entanglements, grain bin entrapment, agricultural chemical injuries, and injuries from large animals. Health care providers will learn about the type of injuries incurred in the above scenarios and the appropriate provisions of care for those injuries.

 

Presenters:

 

     Dan Neenan is a Paramedic Specialist and Manager of the National Education Center for Agriculture Safety (NECAS). For years, NECAS has helped raise awareness of safety issues in rural communities. NECAS works in partnerships with colleges and other educational centers across the country.

 

     Dr. Tom McKenna, veterinary service in Lowpoint, Illinois , will be discussing the dangers of dealing with livestock on the farm. Dr. McKenna is a graduate of the University of  Illinois Veterinary School of Medicine.

 

Light refreshments will be served in the morning.
