McNabb Fire Department Receives Grain Bin Rescue Tube
Thanks to the generous financial support of various agricultural groups in the community, the McNabb Fire Department has received the "Extricator" Grain Rescue System.
The "Extricator" rescue tube was developed and tested as an innovative approach to providing limited protection to a partially entrapped victim to enhance the likelihood of successful extrication from a grain bin. It is designed to act as a grain containment barrier or temporary wall around the partially buried victim.
The Marshall-Putnam Farm Bureau Local Affairs Committee initiated the program to fund a grain rescue tube because of how important it is to the safety of our rural communities and local elevators. All funds raised went directly to support the purchase of the grain bin rescue tube and training of our local firefighters. McNabb Fire Department was chosen because of its central location in Putnam county. The Farm Bureau's goal is to help more of our local fire departments in Marshall and Putnam counties obtain one of the tubes in the near future. To date we have raised the funds to obain a rescue system for both the Toluca Fire Department and the McNabb Fire Department.
Thanks to the following for their monetary donations to the project: AgView FS, Francis Boyle - in Memory of Walter Boyle, Luke and Megan Holly, Marshall-Putnam Farm Bureau, McNabb Grain Company, McNabb State Bank, Moews Seed Company, Sun Ag and Quaker Lane Enterprises. Because of their generous donations, we were able to raise more than $4,000 in just over two months.
